Where to Stay & Play Golf in the Lisbon Area
The
choice of where to play and where to stay in the Lisbon area are
interdependent, but the region offers some very different itineraries.
Golf & Lisbon City Centre
The advantages of this are clear. Lisbon is a fascinating and lively city
to visit. Although Lisbon now has a good system of motorways, traffic
jams are not a thing of the past so the following driving times to some of the
best courses are with luck:
Belas Clube de Campo - 20 minutes
Penha Longa Atlantic Course (Lisbon's No 1 course) - 40 minutes
Praia d'el Rey and Golden Eagle to the north - 75-90 minutes
South of the river Aroiera - 45 minutes, Quinta do Peru -
55 minutes, Troia - 1.5 to 2 hours.
We will be pleased to book rooms for you at the 5 star Dom Pedro Hotel or the 4
star Fénix Hotel which are both conveniently located for exploring the heart of
Lisbon and to join any of the main routes out of Lisbon.
Away from it All
One favourite is to stay in the area of Rio Maior in a quiet
Quinta, visit Obidos and play Praia d'el Rey & Golden Eagle.
The two Quinta's - converted, large farm properties, that we
can book for you offer comfort, cosy fires in the winter months, an outdoor
swimming pool for the summer months, horse riding, and two excellent golf
courses within a half hour's drive.
Golf & History
Try Sintra, visit Lisbon by train and play Penha Longa and the other golf
courses in the Cascais and Estoril area - Quinta da Beloura, Estoril Palacio,
Estoril Sol and Quinta da Marinha, or a little further away, Belas Clube de
Campo.
Sintra, is a town of great character. It has not lost its elegance despite
it's many visitors nor an element of mystery as you explore the back roads and
alley ways. The two properties we recommend here typify
what is best of the town.
Golf & the Coast
Coast North of the Tejo
Cascais and Estoril are the two coastal resorts from where you would play the
courses north of the River Tejo and especially those listed with Sintra.
South of the Tejo - Costa Azul
Sesimbra is the main coastal resort from where you would play the courses south
of the River Tejo - Aroiera, Quinta do Peru, Montado and Troia.
